Hi There!
Welcome to my fitness forward physical therapy blog! My name is Logan (she/her) and I am a pelvic floor physical therapist!
This blog will be dedicated to the intersection of fitness and physical therapy! Whether you're an avid fitness enthusiast, a curious learner, or someone seeking expert guidance on optimizing movement and function, we're thrilled to have you join us.
I'm passionate about blending the principles of fitness with the expertise of physical therapy to help you achieve your health and wellness goals. A lot of people ask what the different between rehab and training is and really...there isn't!
My mission is to share some of my tips and tricks and be a resource, providing valuable insights, practical tips, and engaging discussions on all aspects of fitness-forward physical therapy. A lot of times the answers can be simple and we just need to adjust a few things. Sometimes the body can be complicated though. No matter what though, exercise and movement is important.
Why Fitness Forward Physical Therapy Matters:
In today's fast-paced world, the synergy between fitness and physical therapy is more crucial than ever. By integrating exercise science principles with evidence-based rehabilitation techniques, fitness forward physical therapy empowers individuals to not only recover from injuries but also to enhance performance, reduce risk of future injuries, and optimize overall well-being. When we hurt our leg for example, what do we do? We try and strengthen it! How come doctors tell us when we hurt our back, we should rest? Instead, we should be gently moving and working towards strengthening the back!
As PTs, we need to do better with loading our patients. We need to show our patients how important strength is and how we need it for longevity.
My bias is always going to be strength training. It's all about how manage the loads. Some days we can tolerate more than others. Sometimes we need to learn how to load other muscles. That's my job to help figure out as as PT.
I'm honored to have you as part of our community and excited to embark on this fitness forward journey with you. Be sure to stay tuned for regular updates, informative articles, and valuable resources that will help you unleash your full potential and live your healthiest, happiest life.
Here's to embracing a fitness forward approach to physical therapy and unlocking a world of possibilities!
Logan =)
